Noon on Richter Street

Noon on Richter Street

Every day has a headline somewhere.

This wasn’t one of them.

These photographs were made during a single lunch hour on one block of Richter Street in Kelowna.

A restaurant opens for lunch.

A delivery arrives.

Shelter staff prepare lunch.

A security guard walks his patrol.

Two people walk together down the sidewalk.

A man pedals past, pulling a wagon with a young woman riding inside.

Nothing dramatic happened.

People still get sick.

People still grow old while waiting for housing.

Sometimes the story isn’t an emergency.

Sometimes it’s simply an ordinary afternoon.

Those ordinary afternoons are worth documenting.
